In the actions of the emergency service

And the presence of volunteers

In the compassion and courage

Of ordinary men and women,

We have discovered Christ walking amongst us.

Help us now we pray to meet him in each other

And in that to see our future

And his purpose.

Lord

In the pouring rain

And the rising flood

May I never forget

How near you are

AMEN





Creator God

You brought beauty out of chaos

Light out of darkness.

In the chaos and darkness

That now surround me

May I catch a glimpse

Of your calming and renewing presence

AMEN



Heavenly Father,

As a child

I was afraid of the unknown

And felt nervous in the darkness.

Those feelings have returned

With the floods and the storm.

Like a child again

I now look to you

For the comfort and reassurance

That only you can give.

AMEN



For the compassion,

Kindness and support

All around me

May God be praised.
