which reflects on a theme through music and poetry.  This week The theft of

The Heaven and Earth Show  This weekly magazine is hosted by Kate Gerbeau
and Max Flint.  One of today’s guests is singer, Alison Krauss.  10am BBC 1

Songs of Praise  looks at the origins of the hymn Amazing Grace and meets
people who believe their lives have been changed by God’s grace.  5.15pm

Sunday Half Hour  Roger Royle reflects on St Paul, with hymns sung by a
choir of pilgrims   8.30pm R2


Monday 30 January

Beyond Belief  Ernie Rea and his guests explore the concept of Ummah – the
worldwide Muslim community  4.30pm R4

Gay Vicars  The personal stories of two members of the clergy – a male
Anglican and a female former Baptist – as they register their civil
partnerships highlight the uneasy relationship between homosexuality and the
Church.  Can Christianity and gay relationships be reconciled?   8pm Ch4


Tuesday 31 January

Who Killed Christianity?  4/5  This week Isaac Newton stands accused of
distorting or betraying the Christian faith.  9.30am R4

You are What you Eat  Vicar Brian Statham has already had one heart attack.
But despite the risks, the rotund reverend eats a diet of cake and toast.
Can Gillian McKeith get him to give up his daily bread and resist

Wednesday 1 February
Choral Evensong  this act of worship is live from York Minster  4pm R3

A Seaside Parish  5/10   The Boscastle Food Festival starts disastrously in
heavy rain, but Alan from the Bottreaux Hotel helps save the day with his
cookery demonstration and in the end the weekend’s a triumph. We meet Revd
Pat Robson, and her parish at St Enoder – but Pat’s facing a driving ban for
speeding, which could have severe repercussions for her pastoral work.
Alison and Matt do a communion service at Lostwithiel – there’s some
speculation about the future of their relationship. The Cathedral choir
organises a big fund-raising concert.   7pm BBC2

A Passion for Churches    Mount Zion church used to be at the heart of a
unique village of orphans near Glasgow.  Now it looks set to become luxury
flats, but not if one determined group has its way.  7.30pm BBC2

The Moral Maze   2/10  A new series of these live debates is underway.
Melanie Phillips, Ian Hargreaves, Michael Portillo and Steven Rose cross
examine expert witnesses on the moral issues behind the week’s news.     8pm

The Culture Show   has an item which asks if the best-selling Da Vinci Code
was a rip-off.   7pm BBC2
