Armageddon, scriptwriter David Seltzer has fashioned a supernatural terror

The Choir In todays programme, conductor and composer Ken Burton joins
Aled Jones for an exploration of African-American spirituals. 6.30pm R3
Monday 16 January
Beyond Belief Ernie Rea continues to explore the place of faith in todays
modern world. 3/13 4.30pm R4
The Root of All Evil? Biologist Richard Dawkins continues his dissection of
religious belief with a focus on what he sees as the harmful indoctrination
of the young. He inveighs against the rise of faith schools in Britain and
argues that religious education saddles our children with falsehoods and an
inflexible moral outlook. 8pm Ch4
Dark Enlightenment In this CTVC production, historian Michael Burleigh
argues that by rejecting faith and relying instead on reason humankind has
severely damaged the fabric of society 9pm More4
Tuesday 17 January
Who Killed Christianity 2/5 Another CTVC offering, this one asking if the
history of Christianity has been one of betraying the original teachings of
Christ. David Starkey believes many of its greatest teachers have been
victims of their own zeal and have misunderstood what Jesus was actually
telling us. Today, supporters of the Emperor Constantine argue back.

Choral Evensong Today, from Bath Abbey 4pm R3
A Seaside Parish 3/10 Revd Christine Musser goes to Thailand, and after
being shown some of the terrible damage wrought by the tsunami, sets about
trying to find a community that could be linked to her own parishes back
in North Cornwall. Bishop Bill is at the Royal Cornwall Show hes thinking
about Matt and Alison, who are due to be ordained and are being rehearsed
for the big day by the Bishops chaplain Derek (a keen supporter of gig
racing). Later Bishop Bill ordains eleven Deacons at Truro Cathedral. 7pm

A Passion for Churches 3/12 When Bob Davey found that Satanists had
desecrated a derelict church in Norfolk he resolved to fight them off and
renovate the building. 7.30pm BBC2
Great Debates 3/3 To mark the birth of Dr Martin Luther King, Alan Little
chairs a historical debate about the fight for equality. 8pm R4
Friday 20 January
Changing Room In the last of this weeks Womans Hour drama slots, the
story of the vicar, Linda, who gets a hospital appointment to discuss her
test results. She immediately fears the worse. Knowing that she, of all
people, should not be afraid of death, Linda tries to rationalize her fears
about dying. 10.45am and 7.45pm R4
