Panorama  A Right Royal Shambles?  The Prince of Wales’s marriage to Camilla
Parker Bowles was widely seen as a fiasco fraught with PR disasters, doubts

My Brother’s Keeper   On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, the Chief Rabbi is joined
by Bob Geldof and Gordon Brown to discuss how religion contributes to

Monday 3 October
The Battle for Britain’s Soul  1 of 4. With this new series, The Rev Peter
Owen-Jones (“if Indiana Jones took orders in the Church of England, this is
what he’d look like”) continues to chart the religious history of the
British Isles.  The Church in Danger.  The 18th century was a time of great
upheaval, with forces old and new poised to attack the established
Protestant Church.  The Catholics threatened religious war, reformist sects
began to challenge the Church’s comfortable monopoly, and new ideas in
science and philosophy questioned the very truth of Christian faith.  7pm

Tuesday 4 October
Between Ourselves.  In the last of this series, talking to people in various
walks of life, Olivia O’Leary is in conversation with Canon Andrew White and
Alastair Crook about negotiating hostage releases and the ends of sieges in
the Middle East.  9am R4
Rehearsals An impressionistic portrait of contemporary Belfast.  Music,
poetry and local voices are orchestrated in a vivid depiction of the joys
and sorrows of life in a city long riven by religious and political
differences.  Radio Times “Documentary of the Week”.  7.15pm Five
Mastermind    “City Churches of Sir Christopher Wren” is one specialist
subject as the second round heats begin.  8pm BBC2

The Moral Maze   A new series begins tonight with the panel of Steven Rose,
Ian Hargreaves, Claire Fox and Clifford Longley cross-examining experts on
the moral issues behind the week’s news.  8pm R4 (repeated Saturdays at

Thursday 6 October
Interpretations  3/3  “Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be
comforted”.  Conductors Marin Alsop and Jane Glover discuss the factors that
influence their interpretation of Brahm’s Requiem.  11.30am R4
Hindu Lives  2/3  Krishnan Guru-Murthy continues to follow the personal
stories of three generations of British Hindus to find out how their faith
has shaped their identity, the way they live and the cultural landscape of
