Sunday 3 April

The Heaven and Earth Show  One item in this week’s show asks why the future
king must marry in a register office.  10.30am BBC1

The Best of My Favourite Hymns  This long-running series draws to an end
with a look back at 8 years of programmes, and contributions from some of
its best-loved guests: including Harry Secombe, Spike Milligan and Thora
Hird.  10.30am  ITV1

Father Dowling Mysteries.  Sunday afternoon fare with this made-for-TV
series about a priest cum detective.  3.20pm  BBC1

Songs of Praise  Aled Jones launches the first-ever SoP phone vote in a
search to find the nation’s favourite hymn.  There is a list of contenders
and phone numbers on page 10 of this week’s* Radio Times.  5.05pm BBC1

Monday 4 April – Thursday 7 April
Shariah TV  Beginning a late night series of one-hour programmes in which
British Muslims tackle subjects as varied as politics and leadership and
conflict between Islam and the Media.   Each night just after midnight  Ch4


Tuesday 5 April

Voices  Iain Burnside looks at some of the characters of the Old Testament,
with the help of Louis Armstrong, Gounod, Schubert and others.  4pm  R3

Secrets of the Old Testament  Very little concrete evidence exists to back
up the best known stories in the first part of the Bible, yet it is still
the basis of many modern issues.  This documentary represents a radical
scientific and archaeological appraisal of scripture in an effort to
discover the truth about the Israelites and the Bible.  7.15pm  Ch5


Friday 8 April

Today is the civil wedding and service of prayer and dedication for the
Prince of Wales and Mrs Camilla Parker-Bowles.

The Royal Wedding: Charles and Camilla  Live coverage of the event. Huw
Edwards and Sophie Raworth present.  12.30pm  BBC1

Charles and Camilla – the Royal Wedding  Live coverage from inside St George
’s chapel.  Katie Derham and Nicholas Owen preside and royal experts provide
insightful commentary and analysis of the day’s events.
2.15pm  ITV1

Charles and Camilla   A chance to look back at a momentous day for the
monarchy and the people of Britain.  7.30pm  BBC1

The Simpsons  Bart attends a faith healing meeting and, persuaded by an
evangelist that he has the power, feels inspired to become a faith healer;
helped by a gospel style musical sequence with the inhabitants of
Springfield.  9.30pm Ch4
