 Crown Nominations Commission

Following a recent meeting of the Ely Diocesan Vacancy in See Committee attended by the two Appointments Secretaries, one of the Archbishops and the other of the Prime Minister, six Diocesan representatives were elected to serve on the Crown Nominations Commission.  This is the body which will eventually choose the next Bishop of Ely. They will work alongside the permanent members of the Commission - the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, six members of the General Synod, the Archbishops' Appointments Secretary and the Prime Minister's Appointments Secretary.  

 

The elected Diocesan members are 

  a.. The Revd Will Adam 
  b.. The Revd Canon Alan Hargrave 
  c.. Miss Jane Logan 
  d.. The Venerable Hugh McCurdy 
  e.. Mrs Janet Perrett 
  f.. Mr Stephen Tooke 
The Crown Nominations Commission will meet on 23rd March 2010 and 20th/21st April 2010.  It is hoped that an announcement about a name will be made over the summer 2010, and the new Bishop should be in Ely towards the end of 2010.
