The Bishop of Ely, Dr Anthony Russell, has appointed the Revd Canon Hugh
Kyle McCurdy BA, as Archdeacon of Huntingdon and Wisbech in succession
to the Venerable John Stuart Beer, following his appointment as
Archdeacon of Ely earlier this year.

Hugh McCurdy has served in the Diocese of Ely as Vicar of Histon since
1991 and was ordained in the Diocese of Guildford in 1985.

In 1994 he was appointed Rural Dean of Stowe and four years later also
became Priest-in-charge of Impington. He was made an Honorary Canon of
Ely Cathedral earlier this year.

Hugh McCurdy is married to Ruth, previously a Senior Probation Officer
who now works as Learning Development Adviser for the Youth Justice Board.

They have three children: Hester (18), Kyle (16) and Siobhan (13), all
of whom are students.

A Collation and Welcome service will be held in Wisbech early next year.
Hugh McCurdy will relinquish his parish duties and take up office
immediately thereafter.
