Authorised services
The principal services authorised and commended for use in the Diocese of Ely are the same as elsewhere in the Church of England: the Book of Common Prayer; Common Worship; and some others.
Other services are authorised for use in the Diocese of Ely. These include:
- The Institution and Induction of a new Priest (authorised by the Bishop of Ely, 1998)
In response to requests from parish clergy responsible for preparing orders of service for Confirmations, the Bishop has authorised a set of service outlines which can be easily adapted for local use. There are four variants:
- Confirmation outside of Holy Communion
- Baptism within Holy Communion (includes a variant in case the Eucharist is not celebrated)
- Baptism & Confirmation within Holy Communion (includes the possibility of reception into the C of E)
- Baptism & Confirmation apart from Holy Communion
The Bishops have prepared General Notes for those prepared in the preparation.
