Nicholas Ferrar Day
Saturday 4 December
The Celebration of the Feast Day of Nicholas Ferrar
10.30am
The life and witness of Nicholas Ferrar of Little Gidding, who died on 4
December 1637, will be celebrated at a Festival Holy Communion in the
famous church at Little Gidding. The Rt Revd David Walker, Bishop of
Dudley, will preside.
After the service Bishop David will give the Address in Ferrar House.
Bishop David is suffragan Bishop of Dudley in the diocese of Worcester
and is the Church of England's lead bishop on religious communities, and
has a special interest in social housing.
The Address will be followed by lunch, after which the Friends of Little
Gidding will hold their AGM.
/Nicholas Ferrar renounced a promising career at Court and in the City
to live a life of Christian retreat in his household at Little Gidding,
inspiring succeeding generations with his devotion to prayer, scripture,
and Anglican practice. Little Gidding remains a place of peace and
beauty, and it continues to be sanctified by the life of the saintly
Nicholas Ferrar, an important figure in our Christian heritage./
All welcome to all or part of the day. Please contact the Friends'
Secretary, Judith Hodgson, if you would like to have lunch -- telephone:
