Songs of Praise.  This week, in Caithness, the Prince of Wales talks to
Sally Magnusson about his love of the area and his memories of the Queen

Colloquies  In the third of this short series, Poet and funeral director
Thomas Lynch reads his account of the death of his great-uncle, Father
Thomas Lynch, who died at the age of 31, serving in his New Mexico parish.

A World in your Ear   Religion is the theme of this programme in the series
as Rosie Goldsmith finds out how to download a sermon from Down Under on to
your iPod, how you can serve as an iman in the US army and brush up on your
Latin verbs with the Vatican’s Latin master.  8pm R4

Composers of the Week: Some English Mystics    At this time throughout the
week, Donald Macleod will consider how mystical thought and ideas and
composers’ aspirations have been crucial to the evolution of English music.
Byrd, Tavener and Elgar are some of the names to be heard in the programmes.

Monday 12 September

Monarchy    David Starkey presents this second series of 5 programmes on the
complete history of the British monarchy, beginning in the dark days of the
1450s.  Dr Starkey filmed in the Guard Room and the Great Hall at Lambeth
Palace on several occasions and the programmes will feature library
manuscripts and rare books from the Tudor and Stuart period.  8pm   Channel
4


Tuesday 13 September

Don’t Get Me Started!   Christina Odone on Godless Britain.   In tonight’s
programme in the series, Christina Odone investigates the consequences of
the Church’s declining role in society, which she believes has led to an
increase in crime rates, abortion and drug abuse.  Could a more inclusive
type of service attract worshippers back to the Church?  7.15pm Ch5

No Sex Please, We’re Teenagers.     2/3   Twelve teenagers have entered the
Romance Academy, pledging to abstain from all forms of sexual activity.
Tonight they attend a roadshow served up by an American evangelical
Christian group who condemn sex before marriage.  9pm BBC2.

Orthodox Vespers  for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and
Life-Giving Cross.  From the Trinity Cathedral in the Danilov Monastery in
Moscow   4pm R3





Thursday 15 September


49 Up     In 1964 a group of seven year old children from diverse
backgrounds were interviewed for the documentary 7 Up  Every seven years
since then, director Michael Apted has returned to film a progress report on
their lives.  One of the participants, who was last seen living rough in the
Scottish Highlands, is now a lay preacher  9pm ITV1

Monastery  A repeat for this 3-part series which follows five men as they
accept the challenge of living at Worth Abbey in Sussex, following the rule
of the Benedictine monks.  11.20pm  BBC2
