Hannay is summoned to the War Office where he is told of an impending Holy
War in the East.  Greenmantle, once a mythical figure, now made flesh – is
preparing to lead a great Islamic army against the infidel English.      3pm

Songs of Praise  today is part of the Africa Lives season on BBC.  Hosted by
the actor and playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah and guests include Archbishop
Tutu, the Soweto Gospel Choir and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.     6.25pm BBC1

A Picture of Britain  This country-wide series fronted by David Dimbleby
explores Kent, Hampshire and Sussex and visits the hills that inspired
William Blake’s Jerusalem.     9pm BBC1


Monday 4th July

Beyond Belief  New series of 13 programmes with Ernie Rea in conversation
with guests about the place of faith in today’s world.  4.30pm R4

The Lady behind the Daily Service  A repeat of this account of the
astonishing exchange of letters between a very determined woman from Watford
and several BBC officials that led to the first of 77 years of the Daily
Service.  8.45pm  R4

Composer of the Week: Purcell  A repeat of last week’s programme which
focused on his life in Religion and Politics.  12 Midnight.  R3


Wednesday 6 July

Choral Evensong  today comes from Blackburn cathedral  4pm R3


Thursday 7 July

House  This new hospital drama features a nun suffering from apparent
stigmata.  But is it Dr House’s medical error, or an allergic reaction which
triggers the nun’s subsequent near-fatal heart attack???    The British
actor Hugh Laurie stars as the acerbic medic.  10pm Ch5

Rageh Omaar’s Tsunami Journey   Former war correspondent Rageh Omaar
questions whether belief in God can be reconciled with the tragedy wrought
by last December’s tsunami that killed more that 200,000 people.    11pm
