Film: Joan of Arc  Milla Jovovich stars, and the cast includes Dustin
Hoffman, Faye Dunaway and Timothy West in what Radio Times calls this
“overlong piece of directorial indulgence.”BBC2  9.05pm

Sunday 13 February

My Favourite Hymns.  Today’s programme is a full act of worship for the
beginning of Lent, and comes from Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral.  ITV1
10.30am

The Early Music Show: The Play of Daniel.  From a 13th century manuscript at
Beauvais Cathedral in France, recorded last year in Liverpool Cathedral.

Sacred Nation  New series of six programmes in which Christopher Eccleston
explores Britain’s historically pluralistic approach to religion and faith.
This first edition looks at a time when faith was linked to the power and
elemental forces of the natural world.    R2  8pm

The Royal.  Say a Little Prayer.  Sister Brigid faces a dilemma at the
convent in one of the storylines of this light drama series.  ITV1 8pm

Sunday Feature: The Europe of the Mind  1/3  Founded on Faith.  Christianity
has remained a potent force shaping ideas of European unity.  The programme
visits Aachen and Cordoba, scenes of extraordinary encounters in the Middle
Ages between Christians Jews and Muslims, and considers how religion has
moulded the way Europeans think about their continent.     R3  9.30pm

Monday 14 February

The Sun Says Sorry 
.. And Other Tales of Forgiveness.    The trait of
forgiveness is explored in this one-off Everyman documentary.  BBC2  9pm

Tuesday 15 February

Taking Note    3/3  Bach’s St Matthew Passion.    Conductor Paul Spicer and
singer Emma Kirkby discuss how it feels to perform such a monumental piece
of music and why it has such a profound effect on audiences.        R4

Thursday 17 February

Composer of the Week: Palestrina        Throughout the week, this composer’s
work is featured, with a high spiritual content.  However, today’s programme
is entitled In the Service of God and traces his career through the highest
echelons of the Roman Catholic Church.

Emmerdale   A current storyline features Ashley, the vicar, and devastating
news he receives from the Bishop.    ITV1 7pm

Father Ted returns to make an appearance on a prestigious TV show.

Friday 18 February

God on My Mind    Many people with learning difficulties want their lives to
have a spiritual dimension, and those with mental health problems often
express similar needs.  The programme meets people from both groups who have
found their answers, in or outside traditional religion.  R4 11.30
