The Nun’s Story.   This 5-star drama stars Audrey Hepburn as the Belgian nun
and Peter Finch as the agnostic doctor she is sent to work with in the
Congo.   Peggy Ashcroft and Edith Evans co-star.   2pm BBC2.

The Saturday Play: Death of Faith   Venice is a place of corruption and
concealment in this play where a policeman, Commissario Brunetti, has to
delve into the mysteries of the Church after a young nun comes to him with
an unlikely story.     2.30pm  R4


Sunday 1 May

Heaven and Earth Show   Radio Times reports that one of today’s guests in
this long-running series is The Apprentice’s Alan Sugar who discusses what
“fires him spiritually”.   10.30am  BBC1

Father Dowling Mysteries are back this afternoon – 2.15pm BBC1

The Village People continues with couples competing in the Wedding of the

Wednesday 4 May

Ear to the Ground  British composer Robin Holloway started his musical life
as a chorister in St Paul’s Cathedral school.  His music draws its
inspiration from the past, but he’s far from being an old fogey.  3.45pm  R4

Thursday 5 May: Ascension Day

Windows into Heaven   Blaenau Ffestiniog in Wales is now home to a
community where unemployment and lost faith have taken their toll.  But
there is also the eastern Orthodox church here, with an iconography school
that offers  one-week courses in creating holy images from gold leaf and
rich colours.  11.30am  R4

A Celebration for Ascension Day    The preacher is the Bishop of Oxford for
this annual service from St Martin in the Fields.    8pm  R4


Friday 6 May
The Simpsons: Missionary Impossible.  Homer is forced to flee to a South
Pacific island and do missionary work for the Reverend Lovejoy.  9pm Ch4
