Celebration of the Restoration of the Bells at St Mary's Church Bluntisham.
Guest preacher: Bishop John Taylor.  On the occasion of the seventieth
anniversary of the publication of the Nine Tailors by Dorothy L Sayers whose
father the Revd Henry Sayers was Rector of the parish.

12.30 pm Hogroast lunch

2.30 pm  "Excited about the bells” – a performance of readings and music
about Edwardian childhood  in Bluntisham and life of Dorothy L Sayers,
written and produced by Christopher Dean, chairman of the DLS society.

Tea will be served in the Churchroom and it is hoped the first peal of the
Bells will be rung.

Henry Sayers did a partial restoration in 1910 and expressed the hope that
one day an iron frame would be installed and wheels fitted for full circle
ringing. These bells have been hung dead since 1850. This year they will be
rung for the first time for 154 years.

A new commemorative bell will be hung bearing the inscription NINE TAYLERS
MAKE A MANNE - IN CHRIST IS DETH ATT END IN ADAM YAT BEGANNE. This appears
on the No 8 bell,Tailor Paul in The Nine Tailors.

Voluntary giving and gift aiding to the Church or the Bells project is
invited for each event – all free of charge. Everyone welcome but please let
Colin Backhouse know ASAP if you are coming for the Hog Roast as the parish
needs to determine in advance the size of the Hog.
