[Ely Announce] Suffragan See of Huntingdon2 June 2008

The Queen has approved the nomination of the Venerable David Thomson MA DPhil, to the Suffragan See of Huntingdon, in the Diocese of Ely, in succession to the Right Reverend John Inge BSc MA PhD PGCE, on his translation to the See of Worcester.

Notes for Editors
David Thomson (aged 56) studied at Keble College, Oxford and trained for the ordained ministry at Westcott House, Cambridge. He served his curacy at Maltby, Sheffield diocese from 1981 to 1984. He was Team Vicar of Banbury, Oxford diocese from 1984 to 1994, and also Secretary of Parish and People. He was Team Rector of Cockermouth with Embleton and Wythop, Carlisle diocese from 1994 to 2002. He has been Archdeacon of Carlisle and Canon Residentiary of Carlisle Cathedral since 2002.

He is married to Jean and they have four children. His interests include medieval history, detective fiction and fine art.
