New Year's Honours Awards


It was very good to see a number of names from this diocese in the New Years Honours List.  Among them was Canon Owen Spencer Thomas, the Bishop's Press Officer - the honour recognises both his work in communications and broadcasting over many years and also as Chair of the East Anglian Autistic Support Trust.  

Also, Richard Halsey, - recently retired as Places of Worship Strategy Manager for English Heritage.  He lives in Ely and provides expert help and support as a member of the DAC.

Both received MBE's.

A CBE was awarded to Selwyn Image - founder of the Emmaus Communities in the UK; an organisation that has now spread across the country from its founding in Great St Mary's, Cambridge in 1991.

To these three recipients of recent awards the Bishop sends his congratulations and good wishes.
