[Ely Announce] Announcement - The Rt Revd David Young

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of the Right Reverend David Nigel de Lorentz Young on Sunday 10th August 

 

Bishop David arrived in the Ely diocese in 1970 taking on the position of incumbent at Burwell (St Andrew) (St Mary) with Reach.  In 1975 he became Archdeacon of Huntingdon and incumbent of The Giddings.

 

Bishop David was also Honorary Canon of Ely Cathedral and became the Bishop of Ripon and Leeds in 1977.

 

Bishop David retired in 1999 and leaves a widow, Jane and five adult children.
