General Synod – could you stand for election?

A new General Synod will meet for the first time in London this November.
General Synod is the national assembly of the Church of England and decides
on key issues in the life of the Church. The diocese of Ely will be able
to elect three members from the clergy and three members from the laity and
the elections will take place early in September. If you would like to find
out more about standing, and about what this involves, what they Synod does
and what you could contribute, come to an information evening on Thursday
14th July at 7.30pm in Ely Cathedral Centre. Canon Alan Hargrave and Gill
Ambrose, two current members will share information and answer questions
about what is involved. Information packs specially prepared by General
Synod members to encourage new members to stand will be available. Light
refreshments will be available.
If you would like to let us know you intend to come, or you want to know
more about what the evening will offer, contact Gill Ambrose
