Articles and news stories for the Ely Ensign

In recent months, I have received an increasing number of submissions of
news, articles, features and other ideas for publication in the Ely Ensign.

First, many thanks for your growing interest. I hope to be able to publish
a good many of these, but limited space may mean I have to disappoint some
contributors. Perhaps it would help to clarify what we are looking for.

1.	The best news stories are between 200 –350 words. Features can be a
little longer – usually no more than 750 –800 words.

2.	If you have a computer and are on-line, let me have your submission by
email.

3.	Ely Ensign is a diocesan magazine. Your article or news story should be
linked to the affairs and concerns of the diocese. For instance, we can’t
justify including general appeals from national charities.

4.	We are keen to include items from parishes but they should be of general
interest to the diocese. We’ve come across many innovative and creative
initiatives in parishes and are always pleased to hear of more.

5.	Pictures add interest to the story. One picture is worth a thousand
words. Reasonably high-resolution digital pictures emailed to me are the
easiest to manage.

6.	And finally, if you think you have a good idea, it may help to have a
word with me before you put too much work into it. I may be able to suggest
how you might make your contribution of wider interest.

You can reach me by telephone and fax on 01223 358448 or by email at

<mailto:owenst at btinternet.com> The deadline is usually the first day of
the month before the publication date.
Details of your flower festival, summer concert or other events for
publication in the May issue by email to Diary at ely.anglican.org
<mailto:Diary at Ely.anglican.org> , or by post to Festival Guide, Diocesan
Office, Bishop Woodford House, Barton Road, Ely, Cambs CB7 4DX. Closing
date for this year is 24th March.
