Activities at Junior Church

Here is an extract from our annual report showing a sample of our activities during the year up to February 2007:

During the last year the older children have focussed on Old Testament characters which have tied in with the New Worship Service themes.

The children provided short dramatic presentations which have been prepared during their time in Junior Church. The children have also led two of the All Age services; the first in June was a celebration of what the children had been doing in their classes, including their own prayers.

In November, the children presented a drama based on Joseph and his dreams after demonstrating their musical prowess on a number of different instruments! There was also a special service in July when we celebrated the attendance of all our children by presenting them with gifts, small painted boxes and beaded crosses from the Toy Box Charity.

We have continued to support the Indian village of Kirlampudi, by weekly collection and occasionally by selling coffee and biscuits after the 9.45am service. In July the children wrote cards and letters to the children in that village and at Christmas appropriate gifts were delivered to them.

At the Flower Festival in June we created a display celebrating all the members of Junior Church and the teaching staff entitled “Junior Church Family- Growing and Rooted in Faith”. We raised money again selling balloons over the weekend. In November we had a workshop where the children made glittering angel cards for Linton’s single senior citizens inscribed with the verse Luke 2:11. The children later delivered these around the village with the support of their parents.

At the Christmas Bazaar we again ran several stalls where younger children could do craft work, decorating cloth bags or icing Christmas biscuits.

This year’s Christmas nativity was presented during the New Worship Service in December and entitled “Christmas Party”
