The Friends of St Mary, Linton were started in 1984 by The Revd Canon John Cotgrove to help with the work of repairing the church roof.

In 2001, The Friends were reconstituted as a separate Charity for the purpose of caring for the Church and Churchyard. [Charity Number – 10388328]

The Friends Annual General Meeting is held in May.

Success

Friends StallSince 2001 the Friends have raised over £70,000, through subscriptions, donations, a stall and a wealth of fund-raising activities. A generous gift, in 2007, of the estate of our late organist, Richard Godel, will soon increase the annual income and make it possible for the Friends to make a very substantial contribution to major repairs. At the moment, St Mary’s needs about £80,000 to cover essential repairs to flint and stone-work.

Giving

Stained Glass WindowIn recent years the Friends have contributed to new lighting, up-dating the sound system,South Door repairs to stained glass and church fabric, a new south porch door, roof repairs, cleaning and repair of the organ, a new high altar frontal and kneelers, and a book cupboard.
