Success
Since 2001 the Friends have raised over £70,000, through subscriptions, donations, a stall and a wealth of fund-raising activities. A generous gift, in 2007, of the estate of our late organist, Richard Godel, will soon increase the annual income and make it possible for the Friends to make a very substantial contribution to major repairs. At the moment, St Mary’s needs about £80,000 to cover essential repairs to flint and stone-work.
Giving
In recent years the Friends have contributed to new lighting, up-dating the sound system,
repairs to stained glass and church fabric, a new south porch door, roof repairs, cleaning and repair of the organ, a new high altar frontal and kneelers, and a book cupboard.
Future work
In 2008 the Friends hope to make a major contribution to the repair of flint and stone-work on the South Clerestory estimated at £40,000.
