Churches Together in Britain and Ireland have produced a series of Lent resources, 'People on the edge of His pain'. This is in partnership with BBC Radio. The theme will carry across Radio 4's Sunday Worship and Daily Service and on BBC Cambridgeshire Radio's Sunday morning programme. A handbook and other resources are downloadable from the local BBC site and from CTBI.
This year’s York Course is called When I Survey and is about the Passion. It is edited by John Pridmore and based around talks by John Bell, Colin Morris, Christina Baxter, David Hope and Gen. Sir Richard Dannatt. Churches Together in Ely (incl. the Cathedral) are among those using it.
The Cathedral will hold a special Ash Wednesday Eucharist at 7.30pm, and Compline is sung at 9 p.m. each Tuesday in Lent. From 20th March to 10th April, they will be hosting an exhibition of fifteen paintings by Charlotte Wright called 'In Human Likeness'. These are modern Stations of the Cross, inspired by visits to Palestine.
Ridley Hall students and staff have added to their successful series of Lent books with a course entitled Kingdom Encounters. It can be ordered from the publishers, Canterbury Press or from Ridley Hall and retails at £5.99.
Getting to Grips with the Old Testament: on Saturday 20th March, the Revd Dr Janet Tollington of the Cambridge Theological Federation will explore some of the lectionary readings from the Easter and Pentecost seasons as well as looking generally at different ways in which the Old Testament can be used in preaching. The day begins at 9.30 a.m. and ends at 3.30 p.m. This is primarily a training day for LLMs, but there are some places available. Contact Chris Worsley or Alison Evans if you would like to reserve a place.
