Christian Giving
Helping you understand the principles and practice of Christian Stewardship
Giving has always been a mark of Christian commitment and discipleship. The ways in which a believer uses God's gifts, should reflect a faithful response to God’s giving of everything in this world for us, as well as his self-giving in Jesus Christ; Christ calls us also to minister to and share with others in the world.
Christian Stewardship is not just about money and balancing accounts. It has both biblical and spiritual foundations. The Bible, and particularly the New Testament, has a lot to tell us about how to apply Christian principles to this - as to other aspects of our lives.
We use the terms Stewardship and Christian Giving interchangeably because we are concentrating solely on the Stewardship of Money. In its widest sense Stewardship refers to the way in which we treat the whole of God’s world, its ecology and its preservation for future generations.
This section describes the subject in easy-to-grasp terms, and provides a simple way of helping parish congregations to understand and act upon these principles. The pages are designed to be downloaded as required by parishes, and to provide a complete description of the various processes involved. The links containing the Stewardship information have been arranged so that the essential ones (including the Theology) are at the top of the list. The practice of Stewardship must at all times be carried through with a firm understanding of the Theology.
A Stewardship Prayer
Generous God,
we know that all that we have is yours:
save us from the delusion of believing it is ours;
save us from our possessiveness,
that your grace may abound in all things at all times;
through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen
Amen
