Natural World

The Natural World strand of the Cambridgeshire Agreed Syllabus looks at the Christian response to suffering. This is a very real issue in the Diocese of Vellore where many of the poor cannot afford the medical help that they need. The Christian community is actively involved in financing and running many different projects, some of which are listed below as examples of the kind of work that is underway. As with all projects in the Diocese of Vellore, the Church believes in serving the poor whether they are Christians, Hindus or Muslims, and all of the schemes are open to anyone who is in need. Their beliefs are summed up in this painting which is in the waiting area at Vandavasi Hospital, and which shows the doctor, nurses, and Jesus himself concerned for a patient.

Anbu Illam - Rehabilitation Centre for children with cerebral palsy

Adikalam - Working with AIDs

Rural Clinics

Ranipet Hospital - Nurses Training Institute

Karigiri Leprosy Hospital

The famous CMC Hospital (Christian Medical College Hospital) is also in Vellore, but this is not run by the Diocese. You can find out about the hospital from its own website.
