The Beattie Memorial Teacher Training College at Ranipet

This teacher training college takes girl students at the age of eighteen for a two year course. In the first year they have teaching practice in elementary schools and for the second year in the lower classes of the high schools. The students are taught all aspects of education over the two years following a nationally laid down syllabus. The teaching of ICT is limited but the students do need an understanding as computers are now reaching some of the primary schools in the diocese. As you can see from the photos, all students wear a uniform. The teaching staff at the college have a range of qualifications and are keen to impart thier knowledge to the teachers of the future.
