The Mothers’ Union
The Mothers' Union (MU) is the UK's largest Christian charity. Our purpose is to be specially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life. As an Anglican-led worldwide organisation, we have more than 3.6 million members in 76 countries.
In the Diocese of Ely we actively seek to provide support and care for families, both in local communities and through our links around the world. Through our work people can experience the love of Christ, and discover or develop a personal relationship with God.
Caring for families in this diocese involves us in, for instance:
- Running Parenting groups
- Providing holidays for stressed families
- Cambridge & Ely Child Contact Centres
- Visitors' Centres at Littlehey and Whitemoor Prisons
- Oakington Immigration Reception Centre
- Cambridge Women's Aid and Huntingdon Refuge
Through prayer and fellowship we in the Diocese support members in five linked dioceses – Juba, Maridi, Yambio & Yei in Sudan and Kigali in Rwanda and Ogoni in Nigeria.
If you are interested in finding out more about the MU in Ely diocese please contact the Ely MU Office on 01353 652718 or mu@office.ely.anglican.org. The diocesan president, Mrs Joan Cameron, is there on Thursdays from 9.15 to 3pm and there is an answerphone for all other times.
