Asylum Seekers
The Board for Church in Society takes a keen interest in the running of the Oakington Immigration Reception Centre at Longstanton, near Cambridge.
We are concerned that asylum seekers – including children – are held there when they have been not convicted of any offence and we pay close attention to their well-being.We have strong links with Cambridge Oakington Concern (CamOak), which was formed in 1999 following the Home Office announcement that Oakington Barracks, was to become an Immigration Reception Centre.
