Ultreya GB 2009: The annual UK gathering of British Anglican Cursillo

5th September 2009

Cursillo logo

Cursillo is an international movement that encourages Christians to be active in our discipleship, by attending equally to three aspects of our faith: prayer/our spirituality, study and action. It operates in the UK via Anglican Dioceses, and was introduced to the Ely Diocese by our Bishop in the late 1990s.

Cursillo is Spanish for 'a short course', as it began in Spain as a renewal movement after the war. Each year there is a large gathering ('ultreya' in Spanish), held at various cathedrals around Britain, and we are delighted to host it in Ely Cathedral during our Diocese's 900th year.

It starts at 10am with worship, faith sharing groups, a lay witness talk and a gospel response. After a picnic lunch we shall have a walk of witness and then at 2pm celebrate Holy Communion in the Cathedral.

Bishop David will preside and preach.

There will be visitors from all around the country. Do come and join in what promises to be a colourful, exciting and happy day! All welcome.

For more information please see our website cursillo.ely.anglican.org or contact Helen Randall, Lay Director, on 01353 721752.
